Step-by-step instructions
- Step 01
Find your hosting provider's domain connection instructions. Write down the correct nameservers or the specified A/CNAME records for your hosting account.
- Step 02
In your hosting panel, add your domain as a site/addon domain if it is not already configured.
- Step 03
At the registrar, choose one DNS management route: change nameservers to the host OR keep current DNS and add the host-provided records. Avoid conflicting configurations.
- Step 04
Wait for DNS propagation and verify the domain reaches the correct hosting account.
- Step 05
Install WordPress or move your existing WordPress installation into the configured site's document root using the host's recommended procedure.
- Step 06
In WordPress Settings → General, ensure WordPress Address and Site Address are correct; take care not to lock yourself out by changing them prematurely.
- Step 07
Enable HTTPS/SSL with the host and confirm images and scripts are loading securely.
- Step 08
Test root domain, www version, home page, article URLs and wp-admin sign-in. Set a preferred version with redirects if supported.
- Step 09
Before changing a live site, keep a backup and plan redirects for any existing search-visible URLs.
Before you finish: important checks
- A domain points to hosting; changing nameservers alone does not install WordPress.
- Use your host's exact records rather than generic IP addresses.
Common problems and fixes
- Blank page? Check document root and PHP/WordPress errors with the host.
- Wrong website opens? Check virtual host assignment and DNS.
- Redirect loop? Check HTTPS redirects and WordPress Site URL values.
