Step-by-step instructions
- Step 01
Open your website in a private browser tab and copy the correct homepage URL.
- Step 02
In WordPress.com navigate to Design → Navigation; on self-hosted block themes check Appearance → Editor → Navigation.
- Step 03
Select the main Navigation block/menu currently used by your header template.
- Step 04
Add a Page Link for Home, or add a Custom Link to your site's root URL when Home does not appear in the chooser.
- Step 05
Move Home to the first menu position and check the URL of Blog and other menu items individually.
- Step 06
Save the site editor, refresh in a logged-out browser and test desktop and mobile menus.
- Step 07
If the menu still differs, check whether a second header template/navigation block is active for that view.
Before you finish: important checks
- A missing menu link is not evidence that the Home page was deleted.
Common problems and fixes
- Home opens blog? The menu link may point to a post instead of the homepage.
- Menu changes don't appear? Clear browser cache and confirm you edited the active header/template.
