How to Add Latest Posts with WordPress Query Loop

Step-by-step instructions

1. Step 01

   Edit the Home page with the block editor and add a heading such as Latest Articles.

2. Step 02

   Insert a Query Loop block and select a grid or list variation.

3. Step 03

   Select the outer Query Loop block in List View, not just the Post Title inside it.

4. Step 04

   Choose a Custom query when your regular page cannot inherit a posts archive query, and set Post Type → Posts.

5. Step 05

   Set ordering to Newest to oldest and Items per page to a sensible count such as three.

6. Step 06

   Inside Post Template, insert Featured Image, Post Title, Excerpt and Read More blocks, in that order.

7. Step 07

   For narrow mobile views, use one column or a layout that automatically stacks; make the Post Title smaller to avoid overflow.

8. Step 08

   If a post is missing, verify Published status and check any category filters.

9. Step 09

   Save and test clicks from Preview in New Tab or your live site. Editing clicks may only select blocks.
